Cobourg Office

The New Canadians Centre opened its doors in Cobourg, Ontario in January 2008.  On October 28, 2008 the New Canadians Centre hosted an Open House to welcome the community and newcomers to the new space.

The Cobourg office brings a helping hand to newcomers in Cobourg, Port Hope and surrounding areas.

In general, we offer the following services and programs:

• Settlement Services
• English language assessment and LINC referral
• Employment counselling
• Program for Foreign-Trained Professionals
• A weekly English class
• Immigration services
• Host Program
• Workshops
• Multicultural potluck dinners
• Women’s group (monthly meeting)

The Cobourg office also works in partnership with other organizations to welcome migrant workers to the area and provide support while they are far away from home for five or six months.  The “Feel Good Town” of Cobourg has shown its true colours with a variety of individuals and organizations collaborating to welcome new Canadians and Migrant Workers to the community.
