Multicultural Canada Day

Each year the New Canadians Centre brings together a fantastic group of international food and craft vendors and stage performers from around the world- all celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Peterborough and Canada.

We invite you to join us on July 1, 2017 in Del Crary Park for Canada’s 150th birthday for an even bigger and better Multicultural Canada Day Festival #ptbo150 #bringpeopletogether

Sports Demonstrations (10:30 am – 2:00pm)

Bring friends and family for these interactive performances!

Stage Show (12:00-2:30pm)

The stage show will open with the national anthem performed by the Wshkiigomang Woman’s Native Hand Drum Singers.

Children can enjoy the face-painting, henna tattoos and field games at the Kids Zone. Also, don’t miss out on the 50/50 Raffle! Tickets are $5 each. The winner will be drawn on July 1 between 2:15 and 2:30pm and will have to be in the park to claim their prize for the draw.


We are looking for 120 volunteers to help with: face painting, barbecuing, cotton candy, dish washing, event set-up and clean-up, and more. Volunteer shifts will be between 6:30am and 4:00pm depending on your role.

Call for Food Vendors for Multicultural Canada Day July 1

We are seeking a small number of multicultural food vendors for our event (10:00 am – 3:30 pm). Vendors must serve food that fills gap in cuisine that we don’t currently have (no food trucks, please) and must reside in the Peterborough and surrounding area. If you are interested, please email Liana at with the following information by Wednesday, May 17 at 10:00 am:

  • Full name
  • Email and phone number
  • Are you a newcomer?
  • Country/region from which your cuisine represents
  • Name of dish and basic list of ingredients
  • Do you have a Food Handlers Certificate?
  • Do you have a restaurant or are you a vendor at other events?

We have a limited number of spots available. Responding to this call does not guarantee a spot. All submissions will be assessed by the Canada Day Organizing Committee and a decision will be made based on our festival policy mandate and criteria to fill gaps in cuisine.

Please note:

  • For the purposes of this event, commercial vendors are defined as those with a restaurant or store front.
  • Each space is 10ft x 10ft with a 10ft frontage onto the park
  • Electrical appliances must use no more than 1200 watts, 15 amps or 120 volts
  • Vendors must supply their own tent and tables

Food Vendor Fees

  • Commercial Vendors with hydro: $450 cash for one space and two electrical sockets
  • Commercial Vendors no hydro (these spaces may be on the water side of the park): $300 cash for one space
  • Non-Commercial Vendors with hydro: $270 cash for one space and electrical two sockets
  • Non-Commercial Vendors no hydro (these spaces may be on the water side of the park): $210 cash for one space
  • Deposit: $150 mandatory cash deposit for all vendors
