Employment mentors

As an employment mentor, you’ll be able to use your experience to help a new Canadian.  You will have the opportunity to meet interesting people from different backgrounds.

Employment mentors may offer:

  • information on educational programs or resources
  • answer questions about skills that employers value
  • describe how someone interested in the field can get started
  • talk about what you do during a typical day
  • give advice on Peterborough organizations that typically hire in the field
  • offer support

Mentors are asked to meet once at a time/place of their choosing, with participant(s) who are interested in their profession to answer questions. The New Canadians Centre runs three sets of work placements per year, and interested mentors can repeat their experience during each round of placements (approximately every four months).  Please contact the Workforce Development Board for more information.
