Carolina provides settlement services to new Canadians.

Carolina was born and raised in Colombia. Before coming to Canada, she volunteered at the UIS University teaching adults literacy skills.

Carolina completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Trent University in 2005. She volunteered at the New Canadians Centre  and the Peterborough public library before working at the NCC. Carolina has been working at the New Canadian since September 2005. She is currently studying Psychology at Athabasca University.

Liliana was born in Mexico and came to Peterborough in 2004. She has a university degree in Business Administration from Mexico.  In addition to her two years experience as a settlement counsellor at the New Canadians Centre, Liliana Perez has also taken on numerous projects and participated in many professional development opportunities.  She has successfully completed three online immigration courses from Humber College in the Immigration Consultant certificate program (an accredited certificate program of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC).

Luz Ofelia provides settlement services and organizes a variety of programs and activities for new Canadians in the Northumberland region .

Luz Ofelia has a university degree in Business Administration from Colombia. She arrived in Canada in 2001, and graduated from the Toronto School of Business (now Trillium College) in Cobourg in 2003. Luz Ofelia joined the New Canadians Centre in June 2007 as part of the New Canadian Employment Initiative (NCEI), a program designed to help immigrants obtain Canadian employment experience.

Faye Shien Tan

Faye was born in Malaysia and came to Peterborough in September 2007. She has a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Trent University. Faye was a Trent International Ambassador, and was active in the international community at Trent. She enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Steve Ross

Steve brings years of experience in community development work. He has worked in development projects in Eastern Europe and spent a year working with non-governmental organizations in Hungary, Ukraine and Romania. Mobilizing people, project management and community networking are skills that Steve brings to the NCC. He lives outside of Peterborough on a farm with his wife and daughter.
