As a Special Events Volunteer you will help make our many activities and events a reality. These events are not only a lot of fun, but also help to promote the New Canadians Centre and/or raise money. Examples of some past events include Dance Around Africa!, Multicultural Canada Day (with over 10,000 people in attendance), One World Dinner, our Annual General Meeting, a trip to the Ottawa Tulip Festival, and a visit to the Maple Sugar Bush. Being a Special Events Volunteer may involve:
• Promotion and outreach
• Setting up and closing down venues
• Organizing activities (for example, children’s face painting at Canada Day)
• Preparing food
• General clean up
Although events don’t happen every month, volunteers are always needed. In fact, without volunteers these events could not take place.
