Jul 1: Multicultural Canada Day Festival

canada day

With the support of Canadian Heritage and the City of Peterborough, the New Canadians Centre Peterborough invites you to participate in the Multicultural Canada Day Festival at Del Crary Park.

From 10:00 am until 3:30 pm tents and tables will fill Del Crary Park.  There will be the opportunity to try foods from around the world: Thailand, Russia, Bangladesh, the Caribbean, Greece, Italy, China, Costa Rica, Mexico and many more.  The New Canadians Centre BBQ will also be on hand for those who prefer their hamburgers and hotdogs. Bring your own dishes and cutlery so that we can continue our efforts to green the event.

To accommodate the change in the parade time, our stage show will commence at 1:30pm this year. A wide range of performances will be showcased, including dances from Sri Lanka and Africa, the Wshkiigomang Singers, Aces of Harmony Barbershop Chorus and Irish music from Clan Hannigan. Our popular mock Citizenship test will be on hand for everyone to try out, and new quizzes have been set up to test your knowledge of the War of 1812 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Children can enjoy the face-painting, henna tattoos and field games at the Kids Zone. There is something for everyone to take part in; we invite you to make participating in our Multicultural Canada Day Festival your family tradition.
