June 16-17: “Learn to Camp” Weekend with Parks Canada and Trent-Severn Waterway

Want to give your family the opportunity to enjoy one of Canada’s trademark experiences, but not quite sure how to get started?

On June 16 & 17, Parks Canada – Trent-Severn Waterway and Mountain Equipment Co-op are offering you a chance to learn to camp from the experts!!  You’ll learn the basics of camping and outdoor cooking, and you’ll have a chance to explore the Waterway by canoe and visit one of the lock stations.  You’ll top off your
day with a campfire, live musical entertainment and even marshmallow toasting.  Then you’ll head to your tent to spend a night at beautiful Beavermead Park.

All you need to bring is your sleeping bag and personal items, and we’ll take care of the rest!  Throughout the event, many kid-friendly activities will be offered.  To learn more about this unique opportunity, contact the Trent-Severn Waterway (705.750.4900) or visit http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/voyage-travel/ltc-dlc/ltc-dlc08.aspx.

The cost will be $22 per family of 4, and $5.50 per additional family member up to a total of 6.  To register and pick up your information kit, call the New
Canadians Centre at 705 743 0882 or email info@nccpeterborough.ca.  Space is limited so register early! Non-newcomers are definitely welcome.
